Notices - Sunday 7th January

Creche: 11.00am in the upper hall for children up to age 3.

Tweenies: 11.00am in the main hall for children aged 3-5.
Volunteers today: Elizabeth, Angela and Alison.
Volunteers 14th January: Liz, Kay and Evelyn.

 

Sunday School and Bible Class arrive in church at 11.00 with family, then leave through the side door nearest the hall after children’s address.

 

Everyone is welcome to the M. A. Hall after the morning service for a time of fellowship.
Tea and Coffee will be served by Christine and Ann.

 

Monday 8th January from 1.00pm-3.00pm – Toddler Group meets in the M.A. Hall.


Wednesday 10th January at 7.30pm – English Prayer Meeting
in the Seminary led by Mr Scott Macleod.
There will be a Psalmody Class following the meeting.

 

Thursday 11th January at 7.30pm – Gaelic Prayer Meeting in the Seminary led by Mr Joe Macphee.

 

Thursday 11th January - Explorers meet in the M.A. Hall.
6.00pm - 7.00pm: P1- P3
7.00pm - 8.15pm: P4 - P7

 

Friday 12th January from 12.00pm to 3.00pm – Fridays at the Free
The M.A. Hall will be open for soups, teas and coffees to give people an opportunity to meet with friends.

There will be a kids play area available as well as items from ‘Dove’s Corner’ Baby Bank free of charge.

Sign-up sheets are available at the door for new volunteers.

Death
We were sorry to hear that Mr Malcolm Macinnes, Bulnacraig Street, had passed away. We pray that God will comfort all members of his family. We express our sincere condolences to his widow Christina (Ciorstaidh), son Calum and his partner Susan; daughter Ann and her husband Brig; and son Angus. We also remember the grandchildren Matthew and Daniel, and all nephews, nieces and relatives.

 

55+ Fellowship
Happy New Year to you all.  I hope you all have a blessed and peaceful 2024.

The first 55+ Fellowship meeting of 2024 will take place on Friday 19th January from 2.30pm to 4.00pm in the M.A. Hall.  

You are cordially invited to attend, especially if you have never been before.  Why not start the New Year with a visit to the fellowship.  You will be made very welcome.

For this meeting we hope to have Helen Sandison from Western Isles Cancer Care Initiative as our speaker and Donald “Speedy” Macleod from Point will lead the singing.

Tea/coffee and eats will be provided.  Please come along and join us.

 

Explorer’s Collection. 
For those who were not able to contribute to the New Year’s Day collection for the congregation’s Explorer groups, an opportunity is given to place a donation in an envelope clearly marked ‘Explorers’ and leave it in any of the collection plates at the church or the Seminary. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Stornoway Free Church’.



Safeguarding Training
The next Safeguarding Training event is on Tuesday 16th January at 7.30pm.

Squash Group
Do you play squash?

Lord’s Day Observance Society
The annual L.D.O.S. prayer meeting will take place at 9.00pm tonight, 7th January, in the APC church on Keith Street. All are welcome.

 

Providence Christian School Prayer Meeting
All are warmly invited to a prayer meeting at Providence Christian School (Cearns Resource Centre) on Monday 15th January at 7.30pm. There will be a time of fellowship afterwards over a cup of tea.

Free Church Youth Camps 2024
Registration has now opened for those in P5-S6. No payment is due until after a space at camp is confirmed, and invoices can be paid over time.

Anyone needing financial help can make use of our Campers Support Fund.

Islands Study Conference
The conference relaunches on the weekend of 2nd to 4th February 2024.

The lectures will be held in the North Harris Free Church to which all are welcome to attend. The speakers will be Rev John Macleod, Allander Evangelical Church and Rev David Court, Christ Church Edinburgh.

No pre-booking is required for the lectures. There is a residential accommodation option available in the Harris Hotel for the duration of the conference.

Heart for Asia
Heart for Asia is an informative event for anyone interested in encouraging young children to develop a passion for mission in East Asia.
