Volunteers Needed to Greet Cruise Visitors
The Session has recently given permission for the Church to be open to visitors on a number of selected days this summer when Stornoway will have many extra visitors due to cruise liners visiting and also due to the HebCelt Festival.
If you would like to volunteer to be on duty for a few hours on an open day, on a rota basis, to meet and greet visitors to the Church building, then please contact Marten Walker on 704586.
This opportunity is open to anyone associated with the congregation. The only qualification you need is the ability to give visitors a warm welcome!
Summer Holiday Club Update
Please continue to pray for God's leading and guidance as the team plan and prepare. Pray it will be a blessing to all those who attend.
For more information please contact Fiona Macleod: 07825 000250.
Free Breakfast @ The Free Church
We hope to resume this annual outreach event on Sunday 17th July from 8:30am-10:30am. Everyone who has been involved in previous years has commented on what a positive experience it has been. We already have a main cook, but we need assistants in the kitchen, dishwasher operators, tea and coffee servers to go around the hall, folk to clear up and set up in between guests and most importantly, folk to welcome and chat to our visitors (if they wish to chat). If you can speak another language, all the better!
We also need people to pray that it will run smoothly, that it will be a positive witness both to our local community and further afield and that our welcomers will be able to engage in fruitful conversations. If you wish to be involved, please contact Peigi Maclennan or email the church office.
God is Good Africa – G.I.G.A. Lunches
G.I.G.A. will be serving lunches in the M.A. Hall on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th July to fundraise for the ongoing work in Africa. There will also be a stall with jams, chutneys, arts and crafts.
This will help with the ongoing work of Africa Bible University (Ishbel Mackenzie Memorial Scholarship), Lighthill School in Northern Uganda, and ‘Save the Venerable’ in Eastern Congo with Rev. Upoke.
Your support would be greatly appreciated. Please come along and enjoy the fellowship.
Blessings and Thanksgiving

Portree & Bracadale Free Church – New Church Building Project.
In January 2000 the Portree congregation was dispossessed of their church and manse. With support from the Board of Trustees the congregation purchased a new manse in 2002 and in 2012 they bought an area of land on which to build a new church. In 2016, the congregation was consolidated with Bracadale Free Church and they are now preparing to build a new church to meet the steady growth the congregation has experienced over the last 20 years.
Anyone who wishes to contribute to the building project should put their donation in an envelope clearly marked ‘Portree Building Project’ and leave it in the collection plates at the church or the Seminary. If paying by cheque, please it make it payable to ‘Stornoway Free Church’.
