Friday 1st July – Induction Service.
The induction of Rev Calum Murdo Smith will be held in the Kenneth Street church on Friday 1st July at 7.00pm. Rev Malcolm Macleod, Shawbost, will preach and preside.
Due the current prevalence of Covid throughout the community the whole service, including presentations and welcoming speeches, will be held in the church and can be viewed live on YouTube - (Channel name - Stornoway Free Church). A good in-person attendance at the service would be big encouragement to the Smith family.
Anyone who still wishes to contribute to the presentation should do as soon as possible.
There will be light refreshments available in the M.A. Hall after the service with an opportunity to meet the Smith family. If you wish to donate sweet or savoury food please contact Donna Maciver on 07810 386774 or email [email protected].
Please continue to pray for Mr Smith, his wife Johan and their children, Joni, Marissa, and Danny as they settle into the congregation. Pray also that the new ministry will be abundantly blessed by God to the spiritual nourishing of His people and to an in-gathering of those who are still strangers to His grace.

Death
We were very sorry to hear that Mr Walter (Wattie) Duncan, Stoneyfield, had passed away. We extend our sincere and prayerful condolences to his family: sons Hamish, Gordon, Norman and Walter along with their wives Morag, Anne, Marina and Lorraine. We also remember Walter’s grandchildren, Lucy, Samuel, Andrew, Eilidh, Jamie, Daniel, Michelle and Kenny, and all others in the extended family circle. May the Lord comfort them at this time of sorrow.
Sunday School Snippet
For our final Sunday School Snippet of the year, we thought we’d ask our youngest children what they enjoy about attending our pre-school class which is called Tweenies.
“I like Jammy Dodgers and singing.” Joshua
“I like colouring and hearing about God.” Katie Bell
“I like playing Lego.” Dan
“I like snack.” Finn
“I like everything!” Bethany
It is so encouraging to hear these young souls speaking so positively about their church experiences! We pray that these happy memories of attending church would be the bedrock on which their knowledge and understanding of the Bible grows.
Sunday School and Bible Class finishes today and resumes on Sunday 4th September. Crèche for babies, and Holiday Tweenies for ages 3-7 continues throughout the holidays.
Free Breakfast @ The Free Church
We hope to resume this annual outreach event on Sunday 17th July from 8:30am-10:30am. Everyone who has been involved in previous years has commented on what a positive experience it has been. We already have a main cook, but we need assistants in the kitchen, dishwasher operators, tea and coffee servers to go around the hall, folk to clear up and set up in between guests and most importantly, folk to welcome and chat to our visitors (if they wish to chat). If you can speak another language, all the better!
We also need people to pray that it will run smoothly, that it will be a positive witness both to our local community and further afield and that our welcomers will be able to engage in fruitful conversations. If you wish to be involved, please contact Peigi Maclennan or email the church office.
Volunteers Needed to Greet Cruise Visitors
The Session has recently given permission for the Church to be open to visitors on a number of selected days this summer when Stornoway will have many extra visitors due to cruise liners visiting and also due to the HebCelt Festival.
If you would like to volunteer to be on duty for a few hours on an open day, on a rota basis, to meet and greet visitors to the Church building, then please contact Marten Walker on 704586.
This opportunity is open to anyone associated with the congregation. The only qualification you need is the ability to give visitors a warm welcome!
Summer Holiday Club Update
The Bible Holiday Club for primary school aged children this summer from Monday 1st to Friday 5th August, 10:30am to 12:30pm in the M.A. Hall is fully booked with 60 children booked to attend.
We hope to have a variety of fun activities including some crafts with donations of any egg boxes or kitchen roll tubes needed. Donations of baking also very welcome.
Please continue to pray for God's leading and guidance as the team plan and prepare. Pray it will be a blessing to all those who attend.
