Sunday School Snippet
Sunday School took a different format today. Instead of following our usual lessons from our “Go Teach” syllabus, the children had an opportunity to meet with Calum Murdo and Johan.  They willingly answered a diverse range of questions!

Finlay from Bible Class is providing this week’s Snippet:

“We made questions for Calum Murdo and Johan.  We got many answers from them, and it was very interesting.  The main part is, because Johan is our Sunday School teacher, we get sweets.  From the questions we found out that Calum Murdo is 46 and he was a minister in 2002 and Johan supports Westside Football Club, and she became a Christian in 1991.”

Pastoral care of students

We would like students and young people who have just left home to further their education or work on the mainland, and who are linked to our congregation, to be aware of our continued pastoral care for them. We would appreciate if parents, or grandparents/guardians, could provide us with names and contact addresses so that we can maintain contact and let them all know of our continued prayers for them as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

We also wish any who are commencing courses locally every encouragement and God’s blessing as they follow their chosen career.

It would be appreciated if you could email the required information to the office at [email protected] by Friday 30th September.

Youth Committee Intimation

The Presbytery Youth Committee would like to thank all who prayerfully and financially support the Youth Work in our Presbytery.  We have been greatly encouraged by the work of our Youth and Discipleship Support Worker, Gordon Macleod, during his time in post. We trust that everyone has received Gordon’s recent prayer letter, which was sent to all congregations, outlining some of the ongoing work.

To ensure continuity of the role, and to fund other aspects of our youth work (such as Big YF's and October camps), the Presbytery Youth Committee is looking to increase our monthly donation income stream. Those who are willing and able to give to this work can do so by setting up a standing order payment to the following bank account.

Bank – Bank of Scotland

Account name – Western Isles Free Church Presbytery

Sort code – 80-09-73

Account number – 06006485

Reference – ‘Youth Work’

For us to claim gift aid on any donations it would be helpful if you can contact our Presbytery Treasurer, Andy Cumming, for more details. Andy can be contacted as follows: [email protected]  - 0776 493 9767 - 16 Upper Garrabost, Point, Isle of Lewis, HS2 0PN.

Also, if there are individuals or groups willing to be major sponsors of this work then please contact Andy. Your donations will be a great help in allowing us to continue our ministry to the youth in our Presbytery.

Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.
