Appointment of Vacancy Committee
The Kirk Session met on Monday 15th July and agreed to follow the practice previously adopted during a vacancy by taking on the role of the Vacancy Committee.  The purpose of the Vacancy Committee is to arrange for the pulpit to be supplied with ministers who are considered suitable to fill the vacancy, but the final choice belongs to our communicant membership.

The Vacancy Committee would like to stress that they are seeking to secure the full scope of congregational interest so that the process of contacting ministers and arranging dates for them to preach can begin.

The initial meeting of the Vacancy Committee is scheduled for Monday 26th August and over the next five weeks as we pray to the Lord for guidance, the Elders would like to encourage everyone in the congregation to speak to their own Elder or any of the Elders and inform them of who you would like to be invited to preach in Stornoway.

Please bear in mind that certain procedural steps are required, namely the completion of a Financial Schedule as well as a Congregational Development Plan.  It is hoped that both of these items will be presented to the congregation in September before being sent to the Presbytery and the Mission Board for approval.

Champion’s Challenge Holiday Club: 29th July to 2nd August 2024
We are gearing up for a week of Olympic-themed fun and games at our summer club this year! We will be learning about our ultimate champion Jesus, and we are delighted to have a full squad of 80 children.

Please pray for the volunteers in their preparation, for the children and their families who come and for God to receive all the glory.

If you would like to donate any (nut-free) baking for the club, please contact Evelyn on 07795 312924.

If you would like to contribute towards the costs of running the club, you are welcome to put your donation in an envelope clearly marked ‘Holiday Club’ and leave it in the collection plates at the church or Seminary.

Thank you from Women for Mission
We are delighted to report that the final total for the 2023/24 project Breaking Barriers was an amazing £57,327. We thank all the WfM groups and congregations of the Western Isles for the substantial contribution they made to this final total.

All the prayerful support and fundraising endeavours during the year will result in funds being distributed between International Justice Mission, Release International (Nigeria), Christian Values in Education (Scotland) and International Mission to Jewish People.

We assure these ministries and projects of our continued prayerful support, and we thank God for enabling us to be part of this ministry.

Salm 23

1 Is e Dia fein a’s buachaill dhomh,

cha bhith mi ann an dìth.

2 Bheir e fainear gu’n luidhinn sìos

air cluainibh glas’ le sìth:

Is fòs ri taobh nan aimhnichean

theid seachad sìos gu mall,

A ta e ga mo threòrachadh,

Gu mìn reidh anns gach ball.

Psalm 23

1 The Lord’s my shepherd, I’ll not want.

2 He makes me down to lie.

In pastures green: he leadeth me

The quiet waters by.
