God willing we hope to run an afternoon Christmas Club event this December. This will be for Primary school aged children (P1-7) aiming to give parents/guardians some time out while also sharing the reason for the season as they learn more about Jesus - The Light of the World.

We need Volunteers

If you are interested in helping in any way there are plenty of jobs to do. i.e. donations of baking, donations of craft materials, games, registration, administration tasks, setup and clean up, snack preparation.

Above all please pray for God's guidance and that His Light will shine into the hearts of children and families in our community.

If you are interested in helping please come along to a planning meeting on Monday 21st November at 7.30pm - Kenneth Street Church Session room.

Craft Collection

Volunteers involved with the church’s youthwork are looking for the following items: 340g jam jars (cleaned and labels removed), buttons and ribbons. Some of these items will be used for the proposed Christmas Club crafts, and other items will be used throughout the year. Ribbons can be upcycled from gifts received, e.g. socks, linen, chocolates, toiletries, crackers etc, especially at this time of the year.

Items can be placed in the boxes under the table at the front entrance of the church or Seminary or given to anyone who is involved with youth activities. It Sunday 4th December that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Sunday School Snippet
Today in Sunday School we were learning about the 7th commandment. “Today we learnt it is wrong to take what is not yours. God want us to pray to him when we are tempted to take something that belongs to someone else.”

Baby Bank Appeal

‘Dove’s Corner Baby Bank’ located in Uig was established by a Church of Scotland ‘Go For It Fund’ grant’ in 2019.  The Baby Bank provides nappies, equipment and consumables for babies, and new/high quality pre-loved clothing for families and individuals requesting assistance across the Isle of Lewis, from the very young to older adults. Demand for assistance is growing at an alarming rate and the Baby Bank is experiencing a high turnover of essential items.

If you are in a position to help, there will be a box situated inside the hall door for donations of nappies, wipes, Stage 1 formula milk, baby and adult basic toiletries, and female sanitary products.

For further information, please contact Elaine on 07876225120.

Accommodation for Hospital Patients and Family Members:

Many of us will be aware of the difficulties experienced by hospital patients in finding suitable accommodation when attending outpatient appointments and undergoing medical procedures which require inter-island and off-island travel.  It can also present a very real difficulty for family members who need to travel with their loved ones, often in times of acute need.

If anyone can recommend or owns accommodation near a hospital within the Western Isles, or any of the major hospitals on mainland Scotland and is willing to offer it for short or long term stays at a reasonable rate should contact Kay Campbell using the following contact details:

Email: [email protected]
Text or phone:  07854 772 368

A list of the accommodation will be compiled and made available to various agencies and groups and also to those in need.

The Women for Mission Ultimate Favourite Recipes:
Cookbook (600 Recipes – Books 1 & 2 combined) is now available to order. Copies, priced at £18, will be available at church from week beginning 12th Dec. If you would like to order your copy, please contact Donna (07810 386774) or Johan (07887 483992) by Tuesday 29th November. Put payment with your name in envelope marked WfM cookbook.

All profits from sales of the books will raise funds to support Disaster and Relief Efforts around the world. Purchasing the new book will also provide access to an online version of the cookbook which is due for release next year.
