Notices - Sunday 19th November

Creche: 11.00am in the upper hall for children up to age 3.

Sunday School and Bible Class arrive in church at 11.00 with family, then leave through the side door nearest the hall after children’s address.

 

Everyone is welcome to the M. A. Hall after the morning service for a time of fellowship.
Tea and Coffee will be served by Murdo and ChrissAnne.

 

YF meets tonight following the evening service at Jonathan and Alison’s house at 16 Olivers Brae.
As you head out of town towards Sandwick, their house is the first on the right after passing the Seaforth Road Junction.

Hannah Mackenzie will be the speaker. All S1-S6 are welcome.

Christianity Explored will NOT meet this Tuesday 21st November.
We will meet next on Tuesday 28th November at 7.30pm.

 

Tuesday 21st November at 7.30pmin the M.A. Hall – Stornoway WfM will be hosting a meeting.  The guest speaker will be Andrew Maciver from North Tolsta who will be telling us about his work in Myanmar. This meeting is open to every one, including men.

 

Wednesday 22nd November at 7.30pm – English Prayer Meeting in the Seminary and on Zoom led by Rev Calum M. Smith.

The Psalmody class will be held following the prayer meeting.

 

Thursday 23rd November at 7.30pm – Gaelic Prayer Meeting in the Seminary led by Rev James Maciver.

The M.A. Hall will be open for soups, teas and coffees to give people an opportunity to meet with friends.

There will be a kids play area available as well as items from ‘Dove’s Corner’ Baby Bank free of charge.

Record Subscriptions
The Record continues to have an interim editor and this is likely to continue until the position is reviewed at the 2024 General Assembly. 

If you would like to continue receiving bi-monthly issues of the Record from December until May 2024, please put £6.00 in an envelope clearly marked Record along with your name and address.

If you would like to subscribe to the Record, please put £6.00 in an envelope clearly marked ‘Record - New Subscriber’ along with your name and address.

All envelopes should be placed in the collection plates at either the church or the Seminary.

 

Lord’s Supper.
The Lord’s Supper will be dispensed at the morning service on 3rd December, with a pre-communion service on Saturday 2nd December at 7.00pm in the Kenneth Street church.

The Kirk Session will meet after the Saturday service, and will be delighted to meet with anyone who wishes to take communion with us for the first time.

Further details will be given next week.



Saturday 25th November - Fundraising Lunch for Cancer Research
Cancer Research will be hosting a fundraising lunch in the M.A. Hall from 12.00pm to 2.00pm. All are welcome.

 

 

Christmas Club 16th December 1.30-4.00pm
Our fliers for the club are now available and will be distributed to all children of primary school age today. Additional copies are available at the door – please feel free to take some and give to families who you think would be interested.

The club will also be advertised on social media and places will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Booking is now open.

Monday 20th November
- Book Launch - An Evening with Tom Lennie.
Tom Lennie, author of ‘Island Aflame - The Famed Lewis Awakening that Never Occurred and the Glorious Revival that Did (Lewis and Harris 1949 - 1952) will be at the Barvas and Brue Community Centre at 7.30 pm to speak about his new book which is being launched this month. The event will be hosted by Stornoway Christian Bookshop in conjunction with Christian Focus Publications.

There will be a bookstall and an opportunity to buy signed copies of ‘Island Aflame’ at a discounted price.  His other books will also be available for sale – ‘Glory in the Glen’, ‘Land of Many Revivals’ and ‘Scotland Ablaze’.

There will be tea/coffee and baking provided.
