Free Church of Scotland Donates £5,000 to help People in Morocco & Libya
Through its Disaster and Relief Fund, the Free Church is sending £3,000 to Operation Mobilisation (OM) and £2,000 to Christian Aid, to support the work being done to alleviate the suffering of those significantly impacted by the earthquake in Morocco and the floods in Libya.

As a church, we bring those affected in Morocco, before the Lord in prayer, and we are grateful to those offering aid and support locally.

The Mission Board want to encourage churches in Scotland to continue to pray for these countries in desperate need, and to ask for God’s protection and comfort to be known by believers across the global church. Please pray for those who are affected, whether injured, traumatised or grieving. Please pray that these organisations would be guided continually by the Lord throughout these appeals and their relief efforts.

ISRAEL UPDATE

Dear praying friend,

As you will know, on Saturday 7th October, Hamas launched a military offensive against Israel – bombing, shooting, and taking hostages. Many have been killed in the attacks and the violence is ongoing. The war is not only affecting the Jewish people we are reaching in Israel, but also the Jewish people we are ministering to all over the world.

Our missionaries from Israel – Igal, Aviel, Misha, and Asaf (currently serving in the Netherlands) and their families are so far safe. In fact, Igal is in the UK speaking in churches and his wife and newborn son are trying to leave for the safety of Europe. Currently, Misha and Aviel remain with their families. We are closely monitoring the situation with them as things progress. We have had to cancel Aviel’s visit to the UK and are trying to find other missionaries to take his church meetings. Misha is still hoping to come for his church tour later this week.

Asaf's great-niece, who served as a military paramedic, was brutally murdered on Saturday.

There is so much to pray about and we are so grateful for you standing with us. Please allow me to offer you some ways you can pray for us in this situation.

  • That God would bring a quick end to this awful war in Israel.
  • That God would protect our missionaries and their families.
  • That God would open the hearts of those they are ministering to in the light of the horrific loss of life, and that many will come to know God's salvation in Jesus.
  • That God would comfort all those who are mourning the loss of a loved one through this war.
  • That God would give wisdom and boldness to our missionaries as they continue to share the gospel with Jewish people in such difficult circumstances.
  • That God would help Christians to avoid feelings of bitterness, anger and hatred. That he would renew the Church’s commitment to sharing the love of God in Jesus to both Jewish and Arab peoples as the only remedy to the sinful human heart and the evil attitudes and acts that flow from it.

Thank you again for your prayers and we would so appreciate it if you could make a special gift here to support our work in Israel at this very critical time.

Thank you so much and God bless you.

Rev Joseph Steinberg (CEO of International Mission to Jewish People)
