There will be a Congregational Fellowship in the hall after the eveningservice. The speaker will be Donald Martin, Lieutenant of the Isles. All very welcome.


Monday 14th January
Kirk Session will meet at 7pm in the Session Room, Kenneth St
Please note this change to the original planned date of 21st January.


Tuesday 15th January
- WFM will meet at 7.30pm in the Session Room, Kenneth St. The speaker will be Carol Ann Maclean.

- A new session of Basic Christianity discussion will start on 15th January 2019. The group will be meeting each Tuesday night from 7:30-9pm in the MA Hall on Kenneth St. Please join us in a relaxed informal setting to explore what Christianity is all about.


Friday 18th January
The 55+ Fellowship will meet from 2.30-4pm in the MA Hall. The speaker will be Marten Walker.


Youth Work Placement
We have the pleasure of welcoming Megan Macdonald, from Glenelg, for six weeks of youth work in the congregation. Megan is studying youth work at Edinburgh Theological Seminary and the placement forms part of her course. She will work closely with Mairianne, our Youth and Admin Assistant, and hopes to gain experience across the spectrum of youth work activities in the congregation. Please pray for Megan as she begins her placement on Monday 14th January.


Senior Presbytery Camp
Booking forms are now available for the Senior Presbytery Camp which runs in Scaladale from Friday 8th to Monday 11th February 2019. The camp is open to young people aged S3-S6 and costs £35. Book early to avoid disappointment. Contact Catriona Macdonald for more information - 07717 368004.

ADVANCE NOTICES


Sunday 20th January
Big YF meets in the Hall after the evening service. We will hear from special guest, Gavin Peacock, on Facetime from Canada. This will be a Q&A about his life of faith, as a minister and formerly as a professional footballer. All young people are warmly encouraged to come along. Gavin Peacock is Discipleship Pastor at Calvary Grace Church in Calgary Alberta. He was a professional Footballer for 18 years, playing in the Premier League for Newcastle United and Chelsea. He then worked for the BBC, regularly appearing as a pundit on Football Focus, Match of the Day 2 and BBC Radio 5 live, before entering full time Christian ministry. He recently appeared on a BBC Programme My Faith and Me, explaining his journey from Premier League goal scorer to a career devoted to preaching the Gospel.

Saturday 26th January
Ladies Walking Group will meet at 11am at the car park, Lews Castle Museum for a walk in the Castle grounds. All fitness levels welcome! This is intended to be a regular meeting on the last Saturday of each month. Please contact Chrisell on 07484 773660 if you would like further information.


Tuesday 29th January
Craft Group meets at 7.30pm in the Hall. Beginners welcome.


Friday 8th - Sunday 10th February
Islands Study Conference

This conference is due to take place over this weekend in Tarbert, Harris. The speakers this year will be Rev. David Robertson from St Peter's Free Church, Dundee who is due to speak on "The Good News for Today's Scotland", and Rev. Roger Simpson, Archbishop of York's Evangelist for the Northern Province, whose talk will be titled "Lost for Words". The residential cost for the conference is £165 with a £10 deposit on written application. Student discounts are available. Day guests are also welcome.
