From Aird Tong…...To Aird Tong
God’s plans, a mystery to us at times,
Are hidden from our sight.
For James they led him from Aird Tong
Now he’s back to his delight.
He was the “head” of Kenneth Street,
The man we all admire,
He did it all with calm and poise,
With elegance and style.
The dutiful evangelist
Never ruffled, that is true.
But his greatest achievement ever was
To escape out of the Rubh.
He even took his “Bayble Girl”
Out of that darkened land.
He summoned her from Aird Tong
Saying “Darling, take my hand.”
He kept her through his farming days,
Through pigs and eggs and all.
She even washed his boiler suits,
To keep him looking “ten feet tall.”
We thank you for your service here,
Your words of hope and grace,
A message that can fill the heart
Of all the human race.
You’re welcome back in Kenneth Street
At any time you can,
We’ll welcome you with joy and peace,
Every woman, child and man.
But sadly as we finish off
We must bid you adieu,
And all we’ve said comes from the heart
And all of it is true.
Se moladh Dhe a bha ‘n ad bheul
Gach madainn, oidhch is la,
Agus sheall thu sin gha d’ phobull fhein
A sgaoladh dhaibh A ghràdh.
Bi moladh ort a measg an t-shluaigh
Cho fad ‘sa bhios cuimhn air d-ainm,
Tha Steòrnabhagh nis bochd an diugh,
Ach’ n as fheàrr air sgàth thu bhi ann.
Gabh do shonas a Sheumais chòir
Tha thu airidh air; tha sin fior,
Thug thu do bheatha dha’n an Righ
‘S bheir esan dhuitsa sìth.
