Deaths

We were sorry to hear that Angus Macdonald, formerly of Anderson Road, had passed away. We extend sincere condolences to his widow Effie, daughters Mairi and Alison, with their respective husbands Dave and Andy; also, to the grandchildren Scott, Ross and Freya, to Angus’s sister Sandra and sister-in-law Margaret, and to the extended family.

We were also saddened to hear that Donald Campbell, latterly of Dun Eisdean, brother to Margaret Macleod, Cearn Hiort, had passed away. To Margaret, to her sister Christine and brother Norman, to all who mourn him as an uncle and to all other relatives, we extend our sincere and prayerful sympathy.

Communion Service Postponed

At its meeting on 19th December, the Kirk Session decided, regretfully, to postpone the communion service due on Sunday 9th January because of the increasing spread of the Omicron variant of the Covid virus.  We were looking forward eagerly to having the Lord’s Supper again after such a long time without it, and while it is disappointing to postpone it, the Session is hoping that we can hold it on 20th February 2022, which is the usual date for our communion.  Please pray that this will be possible.  God strengthens his people through the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, so we are eager to partake of it again as soon as we can.

Free Church Youth Camps

We are excited to announce that registration for camps in 2022 is now open. The closing date for applications is 31st January 2022. Further information can be obtained from Mairi Beaton at [email protected].

Please pray that the children attending camps will have their hearts opened to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Praying for One Another in the Free Church

Changes to Praying For One Another in 2022

In previous years, there have been two sets of prayer points circulated around the denomination each month:  Praying for One Another (prayer points from local congregations) and Global Mission Prayer Notes (prayer points from our global partners). In 2022, the two sets of prayer points will be combined but still using the name Praying for One Another.

Here are the changes to PFOA for 2022:

  • Weekly emails every Monday giving one prayer point for each day that week
  • Prayer points from both local congregations and global mission partners (and sometimes points from Presbyteries and relevant events in the denomination)
  • For those who would prefer a paper copy they will be available each month at the church and Seminary doors
  • Anyone in the congregation can sign up to these prayer points by contacting Mairi Macpherson at [email protected].
