Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal

The Free Church of Scotland, through its Disaster and Relief Fund, has already sent £2,500 to Tearfund and £2,500 to Open Doors, to support the work being done to alleviate the suffering of those significantly impacted by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

As a church, we bring all those affected before the Lord in prayer, and we are grateful to all the local organisations who are offering support of different kinds.

The Mission Board want to encourage congregations throughout Scotland to continue to pray for these countries which are in such desperate need, and to ask for God’s protection and comfort for all those who are affected, whether injured, traumatised or grieving. 

You can donate directly to help the people of Turkey and Syria via the following website:

You can also put your donation in an envelope marked 'Earthquake Appeal' in the collection plates at the church or Seminary. If paying by cheque, please make it payable to ‘Stornoway Free Church’.

Annual Special Collection for Bethesda.

A special collection will be taken for Bethesda at all services today.  Collection points will be available at all exits.  Contributions can also be made by cheque which should be made payable to Stornoway Free Church and placed in an envelope clearly marked ‘Bethesda’.

Muriel Gillies Support Fund

Many of you will know that the home of Muriel Gillies in Cromore, South Lochs, was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday 18^th January.  Although we are thankful that Muriel escaped unhurt, she has still suffered the devastating loss of her home and belongings.

In order to help Muriel during this difficult time, Pairc Free Church have partnered with various community groups to set up a support fund which will be open until Friday 3^rd February.

If you would like to contribute to this fund, you can leave a donation in a sealed envelope clearly marked ‘Gillies’ in the collection plates at the church or Seminary, or you can contribute by Bank Transfer to:

Gambia Partnership Update

A small delegation from the Gambia Partnership will be in the Gambia from 11^th November for a fortnight. Please pray for the Lord to bless the meetings, and for the Holy Spirit to lead the group, and to prepare hearts and minds as the group explore new opportunities to serve.

Monday Toddler Group in M.A. Hall is cancelled tomorrow due to the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
