PLEASE NOTE – Change to church seating arrangement
At its meeting last Monday evening, the Kirk Session decided that from next Lord’s Day, 30th March, there will be a change to the seating arrangements on the ground floor of the church.
Instead of having every pew available, only every second pew will be used for seating. Alternate pews will be identified with a red card marked X and should not be used.
By extending the seating further forward towards the pulpit, the preacher will feel more engaged with the congregation. It will also make it easier for the precentor to set the pitch and pace of the praise and for the congregation to uniformly follow his lead. This should result in an enhanced and well-blended harmony of praise which is such an important feature of our public worship.
The change will not mean having to move from the general area in which you usually sit but it may mean having to choose a pew either in front or behind the one you previously sat in.
The change is not new, a similar seating arrangement was in place when services resumed following the Covid pandemic.
For the first few weeks there will be someone in each aisle to offer assistance.
We trust that the congregation understands and supports the reasons for the change and will quickly adjust to it.
Summer Holiday Club: Save the Date!
Planning has begun for our summer holiday club! It will run from Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August, God willing, and will be open to children of Primary School age. Please save the date!
We will soon be recruiting volunteers to help at the club. If you are available at all during the week of holiday club, please consider if you can help in any way. Our initial planning meeting for all volunteers will take place on Tuesday 29th April at 7.00pm in the M A Hall. That’s another date for your diary! Please remember this outreach in prayer.
Free Church camps – Funding
We are delighted that there will be 14 youngsters from our congregation attending as campers and 2 of our members serving as leaders. Following the success of the recent ‘Curry Night’ fundraiser, the Deacons’ Court approved funding of £100 for each camper and £250 towards the cost for leaders. This will automatically be added to each person’s camp account.
Please continue to pray for the upcoming camps, for the leaders and cooks involved, for all those attending as campers and for Rohan Hepburn as overall camps supervisor along with Donald Macleod.
Prayer Points for Myanmar
Following the presentation from Andrew Maciver last Lord’s Day evening, we were given the following to remember in prayer:
- Peace and return to democracy
- Chin, Kachin Hope Church
- Rev Titus in Hiegu Presbyterian Church
- Rev Salai Nelson and the orphanage
- Rev Ki In and Rabacca
Tuesday 25th March – Christian Institute Day of Prayer
The Institute and our friends at Affinity, CARE, the Christian Medical Fellowship and the Evangelical Alliance will be praying that Liam McArthur’s Bill for Scotland and Kim Leadbeater’s Westminster Bill do not become law. Vulnerable people need to be protected from these careless, callous Bills. They need help to live, not help to die.
