Deaths

We were sorry to hear of the following deaths in the congregation and we pray that they may all know the Lord’s comfort and strength.

Mr John (Ian) M Hardie, Battery Park Road. We extend our sincere condolences to his sister Audrey and all other relatives and neighbours.

Mrs Ann Stevenson, Seaforth House Care Home (formerly resident at Dun Berisay). We extend our sincere condolences to her daughter Dawn, husband John, with their children Daniel and Darlene; also to Ann’s son Gordon and his fiancée Gillian; brother-in-law Gordon; and all Ann’s nephews and nieces, neighbours and friends.

The following is a tribute Ann’s daughter Dawn wrote in honour of her mum, which Rev James Maciver recited at the funeral service.

MY MUM

On the Isle of Skye, my mum’s life did start.

With her sister Catherine, she loved with all her heart.

My granny and grandpa were loving and kind.

Then my mum met my dad and left Skye behind.

My mum became a Stevenson when she married my dad.

They soon had me and Gordon and this made them glad!

Growing up in the Cearns, times were happy and sad.

But we all loved each other – so it wasn’t all bad!

My mum was a Christian which everyone knew.

Sharing her faith is what she always would do.

In kindness and love she showed the fruit of the spirit.

For all her adult life, we knew Jesus was in it.

My mum was also “Granny” to our Daniel and Darlene.

Her love for them both, could clearly be seen!

They are so sad now, because they miss their granny.

Counting their happy memories, because there are many!

My mum had dementia; this we all knew.

Even when it was hard, her smile, it shone through.

For her latter years my mum was “in care”.

We are eternally grateful for what they did for her there.

My mum, how I loved you – it’s hard to let go.

You are at peace now with Jesus, this I do know.

I’m thankful to God, knowing his word to be true.

This life is not forever & in glory, I’ll see you.
