Notices - Sunday 23rd December

Sunday 23rd December
Christmas Congregational Fellowship: This will be in the hall after the evening service. Similar to last year’s fellowship we will have some carols to sing, mince pies to eat,  a quiz to take part in and a few other goodies as well. We want this to be a family occasion. The quiz will be set at level “easy” (the minister has promised!) so that the children can take part and all the children who come will get something! Do please come!

Book
Mr Donnie Macaulay (Carloway) has written a biography of his late father, Rev Murdo Macaulay, who was minister at Back Free Church from 1956 to 1975. This is a substantial book of over 400 pages, including fascinating details from Rev Macaulay’s diaries about his time as a prisoner of war from 1940 to 1945, during which he learnt to speak fluent German, studied Hebrew and other biblical subjects, applied for and was accepted as a student for the ministry in the Free Church! The book also includes numerous sermon notes, articles and archive material.  The book is now available at £14 if ordered in bulk by congregations. If you would like to purchase a copy please sign the form available today at the three exits from the church, so that we will know how many to order. Once you have received your copy you can pay in cash or by cheque in an envelope marked “Macaulay book”, put in the collection plate in the usual way. Cheques should be payable to Carloway Free Church.
