HOPE, PEACE and PURPOSE

The Prodigal God – Tuesdays 2 May to 23 May
Find out how the Prodigal found Hope, Peace and Purpose in Tim Keller’s study in his book, the Prodigal God.  It can be hard for us to understand the relationship between God and man.  A brief study of this book by Tim Keller helps paint this picture using Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son.

Please come and join us to consider the true meaning of “prodigal” and how it relates to our lives over 4 evenings in the M A Hall on Kenneth St.  The programme will be run on Tuesday evenings from 2 May.  Each session will start at 7:30pm and finish at 8:30pm.

The meetings will be held in an informal and relaxed environment and suitable for all who are looking for the hope, peace and purpose that is offered in the Christian life.

There is no need to book, just turn up.  Bring some friends if you can.

If you wish to find out more please feel free to speak to Cala (07818076163) or Roddy (07900807375)

Changes to the Financial Oversight of the Congregation
Over the last 15 months, the financial transactions of the congregation transitioned from a written ledger to a digitised accounting system.  While both systems have distinct advantages, the digitised system allows, among other things, easier tracking of cash-flow, simpler import and categorisation of bank transactions and the facility to extract customised reports to assist with managing the congregation’s income and expenditure.

The change provided an opportunity to review other aspects of our financial oversight and at the last meeting of the Deacons’ Court, it was unanimously agreed to appoint Lorraine Shewan as our new Congregational Treasurer.

Lorraine is better known in the congregation for the administrative assistance she has given over the years.  What many will not know is that she is also an experienced digital systems accountant who has given valuable assistance with the transition.  We have every confidence in her ability to competently manage the financial affairs of the congregation.  A member of the Finance Committee will liaise on her behalf at meetings of the Deacons’ Court.

We warmly welcome Lorraine to the role and commend her to the prayers of the congregation.

We also take this opportunity to sincerely thank Donald Macleod (Doonie) and Gordon Murray for all their assistance with the change, and also for their care of the congregation’s finances, at different stages, over the last 15 months.
