Thank you from Holiday Club 2022

The Holiday Club team would like to extend their sincere thanks to the congregation for all the practical and prayerful support given.

A fun filled week was thoroughly enjoyed by all, from the youngest to the oldest pirate. We learned some of the lessons from Paul in Philippians as we journeyed through our treasure map to find the greatest treasure of all, Jesus Christ.

We had great fun making treasure chests from egg boxes, telescopes from kitchen roll tubes, and lighthouses from paper cups. We learned Christian songs and played all sorts of games and were supplied with delicious rations from the galley every day.

It truly was a blessed week for all involved and we continue to pray for God’s blessing upon the children who attended and their families. To God be all the glory.

We prayerfully seek God’s guidance as we plan further opportunities for Holiday Club events, hoping to share the Gospel with the community around us.

Eilean Siar Foodbank

The Eilean Siar Foodbank are requesting donations of pasta, curry sauces, fruit, puddings, rice, juices, long life milk, cereals, biscuits, coffee and toiletries.

Anyone in the congregation who can donate any of these items is asked to drop them off on Mondays between 11.00am and 1.30pm at the Eilean Siar Foodbank in the Golf Club or at Charlie Nicolson’s garage at 20 James Street.

The Eilean Siar Foodbank thanks all those in the congregation who support the foodbank, and also for the financial support given by Stornoway Free Church to help families and individuals in our community.

Suicide Prevention Consultation

The Scottish Government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) would like to hear views to help finalise Scotland’s new Suicide Prevention Strategy and Action Plan which will be published in September 2022.

Suicide prevention is everyone’s business, and our ambition is a Scotland where everyone works together to prevent suicide.

This consultation will run for six weeks, until midnight on Tuesday 23 August and, asks for views and comments on a draft of the Strategy and a draft of the Action Plan.

The consultation will be hosted via Citizen Space, the Scottish Government’s online consultation platform. You can access the consultation using this link: https://consult.gov.scot/mental-health-unit/suicide-prevention-strategy-for-scotland
